About

Hi, I'm Paddy!

The best decision I ever made was to tell my dad out of the blue, "I want to play guitar", and for the past 20 years that decision has shaped my entire life.

All it took for me to fall in love with playing guitar was Guns N' Roses, and obviously the right teacher! Someone laid back but motivational. Someone who took my interests into consideration but also knew how to guide me and ensure I made progress.

Having now been in music education (both guitar tutoring, classroom teaching and head of music in secondary schools around Derby and Nottingham) for 10+ years, I've taken that same approach with the many students I've had the pleasure of teaching - some of which have gone on to be touring musicians!

I also try to practice what I preach. Through the years I've played in several different bands with many different styles such as Metal, Ska, Country, Funk, Pop & Rock. For many years I played and sang as one half of an acoustic duo called Gentry. Currently, my main musical outlet is the function/party band Cassette Roulette, a 5-piece Derby outfit with appearances at the Darley Park Weekender and Festive Derby events, as well as lots of weddings and corporate events throughout the year.

I'm passionate about music and I get excited when my students begin to share that same passion and really invest themselves in their instrument. I want us to have fun learning, that's the whole point! And if you love talking about your favourite bands or need advice on guitar gear - this is the right place for it.

So no matter what your end goal is; education, performance, song writing, session playing, hobby - I want to help you make them a reality. If I sound like the right fit, please get in touch!
